    DIABETES

Diabetes is a very common word now a days, every one knows about it.

There is a pancreas gland in our body, which produces a hormone called insulin, this insuline hormone controls the blood sugar level in the body. It convert the extra sugar or glacose in to glycogen. Due to any cause if the secretion of insulin is reduced the blood sugar level becomes high and it passes through the urine, this condition is called Diabetes Mellitus or "Sugar disease".

Polyuria, polydypsia and polyphagia is the specific symptoms of diabetes.

The exact cause of Diabetes is unknown, the associated causes are various, -heridity, obesity infection, stress & strain, overeating of fats and carbohydrates, various drugs and hyperthyroidism may be the cause of Diabetes.

Diabetes patient feel frequency of micturation, polydipsia and Polyphagia, patient also feel-lassitude, general weakness, progressive loss of weight, pruritus valva or balanitis, pain in legs and hands, failing vision, cataract formation, reccurent boils and the infection which can not heal rapidly, amenorrhoea in women and impotency in males, non healings wounds, failing memory, severe neuropathy and retinopathy. There is also several other complications of Diabetes. For the diagnosis of Diabetes blood sugar and urine sugar test is done, glucose tolerance test also can be done to confirm the Diabetes.

For Diabetic patient adequate caloric diet value, regular dietary habit is beneficial. Avoidance of sedantary life, advised for regular exercise and maintenence of apropriate body weight. The duration of attack of Asthma is from few minutes to few hours, Between the attacks patient has no troubles.

Generally it is seen that the attack of asthma takies place at same time for few days to few weeks and after it disapear for many weeks or months.

Asthma can be easily diagnosed by its characeric whistle sound during attack. In blood test eosinophiles count is raised, patient should be keept away from the dust, fumes, cold, infeetion and allergens, Rest in bed in propped up position for patient. Breathing exercise is usefull for the Asthmatic patient

HYPER TENSION

The presure of the blood upon the blood vessels (Arteries) are known as blood pressure. The normal blood pressure is 80/120 mm/Hg. When the blood pressure increased above the level as 90/150 mm/Hg it is called Hypertension or High blood pressure.

Hypertension is usually asymptomatic till it is diagnosed, after which symptom may occur due to anxiety. In occasional cases headache, palpitation and giddiness may present, where as in some the symptoms are prodused by complication. In 90% cases no difinite cause can be found. These cases are labelled as Assential Hypertension. Psychological stress and Heredity are the main cause of Hypertension.

The remaining 10% cases where the definite cause are present are due to kidney diseases, endocrine discases, cardio-vasculatar and neurological diseases, drugs and the toxaemia of pregnency.

Patient complaints about insomnia, headach, vertigo, dizziness, nervousness and palpitation. Easy fatigue and Dimness of vision, some complications may be present like paralysis, heamorhage and renal problems. Hypertension can be diagnosed by taking regular blood pressure.

Physical and mental rest is usefull for patient. Patient should be restricted salty diet, over eating should be avoided, simple and easily diagestable food should be given, simple excercises and Yoga are usefull to control pressure.

Impotency is a male sexual disorder in which man can not maintain an erection of his penis during copulation. There are various types of impotency like:

• Complete absence of sexual desire.
  

• Coitus is possible with any women from time to time but not constently.

• Ejaculation occurs before or at the moment of contact of the penis with the introitus or immediately after insertion.
  

• Sexual desire is present, nocturnal emission and spontaneous erections occur but a female partner cannot produce an erection
  

• The penis is inserted into the vagina and coitus takes place but ejaculation does not occur.

There are many causes of impotency, different endocrine disorders, some neurological diseases diabetes, drugs and hormonal medicines can produce impotency, depression anxiety, tention also produce it, smoking and alcohol is the other cause for it. Guilt about the sexual acts, resentment towords the partener, lack of desire to assume responsibility of the family and latent homosexuality are the other main causes of  impotency. loss of semen by different methods, weakness diseases of testis and liver also give rise the impotency.

This is to be noted that 90% cases of Impotency is psychological and only 10% causes are physical. So the psychogical management is beneficial for it. Suggestion and discussions relieves tension and stimulates self confidence. Both partners should be educated about sex.
